Men's Hiking Outfits

Getting out and about to explore the great British countryside means you’ll need the right gear when it comes to your outfit. Whilst we don’t think you need to go out and purchase lots of brand-new items, there are a couple of essentials when it comes to planning your men’s hiking outfits.

The main item that every hiker needs is a decent pair of walking shoes or boots. You’ll need a pair with a sturdy and grippy tread for uneven terrain but they also have to be extra comfortable. You might be wearing these for hours at a time but new walking boots definitely take a few times to wear in. Always wear new shoes around the house and on shorter walks before attempting a longer hike.

Next, you’ll need a waterproof jacket, ideally one that’s lightweight. A style with plenty of pockets is helpful too along with stormproof cuffs and a large hood. For colder weather, a fleece-lined jacket adds an extra layer without adding bulk. During the summertime, a pack and go jacket is perfect to leave in your rucksack for those unexpected downpours.

Another essential as mentioned above is a backpack. Just remember, the more you take, the heavier your backpack will be and the bigger your backpack will be too. Take just the essentials, such as food and drink, some spare socks and a waterproof layer, to keep your back from aching.

When it comes to layering, a fleece layer is a must if it’s a cool day. A gilet is better for cool but not cold days when there’s a chill outside but you don’t want to get too sweaty. When the temperature drops, a long-sleeved jacket is more appropriate. Just make sure it’s lightweight because you might get warmer as you continue on your hike.
