Autumn getaways have definitely seen a rise lately as many of us in the UK want to explore the rest of the country or into Europe before we get to Christmas. A short city break is the perfect way to get out of your daily routine without taking lots of holiday time off work or without breaking the budget too much. That’s why you need to pack a bunch of autumn city break outfits in your hand luggage.

To pack light, you’ll need to travel in as many layers as possible. Autumn means you’ll need to wrap up warm but light layers are the best way to achieve this. However, because it’s not freezing, you should get away with a lightweight, shorter jacket. Riding jackets and bomber jackets are the perfect hybrid of the above as well as being super practical. They can be folded up into your rucksack and are both waterproof and windproof.

You’ll also need a pair of shoes or boots that are comfortable to walk around in because city breaks equal lots of walking. Do not take a pair of new shoes on a city break because you’ll have blisters within the first half an hour! If you’re in the market for some new comfortable boots, you’ll want something flat or with a very small heel. Make sure you wear them in for at least a month before your trip. Don’t forget some thermal socks when walking around for hours too.

Accessories can be the difference between a nice outfit and an elevated outfit. You’ll need a small cross-body bag to keep your essentials together during the day and in a dark leather material, it can be used for nighttime occasions too. Take only a small purse with your cards and some cash in as many independent eateries don’t take card payments.
