When the temperature drops, your style often changes from trendy to practical. However, at Rydale, we’ve always tried to blend the two together so you don’t have to sacrifice style for function. A hat can actually complete an outfit, no matter what season it is.

For casual days, a wax baseball cap will be your go-to hat of choice, especially if the weather isn’t too bad outside. A cap adds a casual touch to an outfit, so we’d recommend them for family days out, running errands, and long walks in the countryside. Our caps are shower resistant, so you can wear them when it’s drizzling outside, but we wouldn’t recommend them for heavy downpours!

If you’re looking for a fully waterproof hat, our bush hats are the hat for you. The waxed cotton exterior makes it perfect for outdoor winter events, from walking the dog to Christmas events and shopping. It folds up small too, to pop in your pocket when you don’t need to wear it. This might become your go-to hat during the winter because it’s so versatile.

It wouldn’t be a Rydale collection without a traditional flat cap. Whilst we love our tweed versions, a wax version is better for winter because it’s waterproof. Again, the waxed exterior means that rain will run off it, so your head will at least stay dry underneath. The neutral colours of our hats will also match with just about any country gentleman’s outfit, so you don’t have to worry about colour clashing.

To keep your hats waterproof, use a specific wax cotton dressing spray on all styles. This will help to maintain its quality and increase its shelf life in your wardrobe. Not only will it restore the original colour, but it will also enhance its waterproof qualities for future wear. We recommend using this spray every couple of months.
