Men's Shooting Breeks & Tweed Shooting Trousers

With hunting season in full force, heading out for a focused prowling session is hopeless without the proper gear. But finding something suitable for your day on the hunt can be an arduous job, can’t it? From all the little details that’ll make your venture run smoothly, to what to actually wear in the field, getting prepped ahead of time is key (and lucky for you, we know a thing or two about it).

Why Do You Need Shooting Breeks?

Imagine packing heavy-duty trousers into a slim pair of Wellington boots – with chunky socks, too. It would be quite a hassle, wouldn’t it? Shooting breeks take the faff out of dressing for game season, with a neat calf-length design tucking neatly into wellies or under socks (however you choose to style them).

But that’s not the only reason shooting breeks are an essential in your shooting armoury. Wading through long grass is hard work at the best of times, let alone when wearing a pair of tough, hard-wearing trousers. With the cut-off design, you can hop, skip, and jump through the field with ease (and your trousers will never get wet, either).

Types of Shooting Breeks

Tweed Breeks

Who doesn’t want to look the part on shooting days? Donning traditional check patterns in classic, earthy tones, our tweed breeks bring the style to the field. But don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about functionality – with a luxe wool blend, you’ll be kept toasty on the coldest of days. And for moments when Mother Nature shows up without invitation, the water-resistant finish helps you stay dry and comfortable.

Moleskin Effect Waterproof Breeks

If you prefer to keep your look a little more muted during shooting sessions, our sophisticated moleskin effect polyester breeks are a sound choice. But they’re not just for looking smart – they’re your all-weather shooting companion.

See, it’s almost impossible to predict when a torrential downpour will happen – despite our best efforts. So, on days where the weather looks iffy, it’s always best to have our waterproof breeks close by. Keeping you dry as a bone with a 10,000 waterproof rating complemented by rustle-free fabric, they’re definitely your best bet for a day on the field without interruption.

Tweed Print Breeks

If you favour the traditional look of tweed breeks but want a pair ready to battle any and every element – our tweed print breeks will be right up your country lane. They’re just as easy on the eye, yet they’re built to fend against the most unexpected downpours thanks to the fully waterproof outer.

How Does the Design of Our Men’s Shooting Breeks Make Shooting Season Simpler?

Rustle-Free Fabric

Don’t expect our waterproof moleskin effect breeks to make you more noticeable on the field – you can still maintain your stealth with ease. Great for hunting, shooting, and beating, we excel in conscious design, using rustle-free fabric to ensure you have the most successful session in our gear.

Mesh Lined

Providing a “barrier” between you and your breeks, our moleskin effect breeks have a fine mesh lining. Significantly improving breathability, you’ll experience the most pleasant, ventilated fit even when you’re feeling the heat.

All-Season Material

Whether shooting in summer or winter, it’s important that your gear keeps you comfortable, isn’t it? Made from a durable wool-blend tweed, our tweed breeks keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. And for that inbetween weather, you can be sure our moleskin effect or tweed print shooting breeks do the job.

Below-the-Knee Cut

A hectic shooting season could mean pulling out your best pair of breeks almost daily. And thanks to the flattering below-the-knee cut, our men’s hunting breeks stay clean and dry throughout each session, meaning you can forgo the dreaded scrub session after your time in the field.

How to Get the Right Fitting Shooting Breeks

Start with the waist and hips – measure all the way around and then check our handy size chart for accurate measurements. If you’re in between sizes, why not size up and complete the look with a smart belt? A little extra wiggle room is always a smart idea.

The bottom of your breeks should finish just below the knee, but make sure the fit is nice and roomy with the adjustable hook and leg cuff – snug breeks are a no-no. If you’re wearing socks on top, this will stop them from pulling away with every movement. Trust us, it’ll only cause distraction at the very moment you’re doing your best to focus.

How to Style Your Shooting Breeks

Don’t be fooled into believing your breeks are for practical purposes only – even top marksmen can take a little pride in the way they look in the field. And our breeks are a fine choice of attire when you want trousers that do your figure justice, giving you a shapely, stylish finish. But it all depends on the occasion (and the conditions, although that goes without saying, doesn’t it?).

Enjoying a casual shooting session? Throw on a checked shirt with the buttons undone at the collar. Feeling chilly? A lightweight jacket or gilet adds an extra layer of warmth without restricting your performance. A belt will tie the look together, and of course, shooting socks and Wellington boots are the best option for your feet.

Formal shoots call for – you guessed it – formal shooting attire. Keep your foundational pieces the same, like your breeks, a checked shirt (or switch for a crisp, white shirt), and shooting socks. To elevate the look from casual to formal, a patterned shooting tie and a perfectly polished pair of brogue shoes is the way to go. You can even coordinate a tweed waistcoat with a pair of our tweed breeks if you so please.

Socks Under Or Over Breeks?

It’s the big question on everybody’s minds (well, not quite): should you wear your shooting socks under or over your breeks?

Tradition would have it that your socks be worn over your breeks – pulled all the way up to the knee and folded down neatly. And yes, that’s even with our adjustable hook and loop leg cuff (don’t worry, it’s mainly for practicality purposes anyway, not aesthetics). But rule breakers will always be rule breakers, so what’s the harm in wearing them underneath? We say: however you’re most comfy is how they should be worn.
